Arroyo Arabians offers private lessons in our family-friendly atmosphere for Saddle Seat, Hunt Seat, Western, Equitation, and Showmanship disciplines at levels from beginner to advanced. Trainer Kelly Elm teaches more than riding, she teaches horsemanship, to all levels in a safe, non-stressful, caring environment.

The farm has lesson horses available or you may take lessons on your own horse. Each lesson is structured to the individual’s learning needs focusing on becoming competent, safe equestrians while having a great time. Private Lessons: $50 each. Special bundle packages available.

Kelly Elm has been training professionally since 1981 and with Arroyo Arabians since 1987. Kelly grew up with Arabian horses in Southern California and was President of the AHASC Jr. Arabian Horse Assn. She has been judging Arabians since 1991 and holds cards in the Arabian, National Show Horse & Saddle Seat Equitation divisions. Kelly has judged the major North American Arabian shows including US Nationals, Youth Nationals, twice, Canadian Nationals twice, Scottsdale, Buckeye, Minnesota Medallion Breeders Futurity. In 2012 she has the privilege of judging the Australian Championships and the inaugural Arabian Horse Celebration in Louisville Kentucky. In 2016, she will be judging the Western Pleasure division at the US Nationals.
Kelly has been President of the Santa Ynez Valley Arabian Horse Association and has been a delegate for AHA for many years. She is on the Show Board for The Arabian Foal Festival, on the AHA Arabian Professional Horseman's Committee, and the Chair of AHA’s National Championship & Regional Classes Committee. Kelly and the amateurs in her training have Regional and National Championships in the English and Western divisions to their credit. Kelly continually works on bettering her skills as a trainer & teacher and would like to thank Greg Harris and Gene LaCroix for sharing their knowledge and support over the years. Kelly lives on the farm with her family.
